China’s humanoid robot sets Guinness World Record with non-stop 106-km walk

A Chinese-made humanoid robot developed in China has earned a Guinness World Record after completing a 106.286-kilometer trek between two eastern cities without shutting down.
The robot, named A2 and built by Shanghai-based company Agibot, began its journey in Suzhou on the night of Nov. 10 and reached Shanghai’s Bund early on Nov. 13.
Using Agibot’s high-speed hot-swap battery technology, A2 stayed powered throughout the entire trip and was officially recognized on Thursday for covering 106.286 kilometers, China Daily reported.
"Walking from Suzhou to Shanghai is a tough task even for many humans, but the robot achieved it," Wang Chuang, Agibot’s senior vice president, said as cited by Xinhua.
"It proves the maturity of the robot’s hardware, cerebellar balance algorithms and endurance, laying a solid foundation for large-scale commercial deployment."
Equipped with dual GPS modules, LiDAR and infrared depth sensors, the A2 navigated complex situations such as traffic lights, narrow passages and crowded sidewalks, maintaining stable perception both day and night.
The robot traversed asphalt roads, tiled walkways, bridges, tactile paving and ramps while adhering to traffic rules.
In April, the Tien Kung Ultra developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center completed a 21-kilometer half-marathon in 2 hours 40 minutes.
